Top 4 Favorite Ancient Games & Crafts
Can you guess what they are? Have you tried them all?
Dear Classical Wisdom Kids,
One of the things we love at Classical Wisdom Kids is seeing our little learners engaged and having fun with the material in a creative way. Children learn best at play and indeed there is a large – and growing – pool of evidence to show that this is the best way to support learning.
So why would the Classics be any different?
That’s why our little team works hard to create fun crafts and activities to reinforce the stories and lessons from the ancient world (and not just to test them out on the kiddos in our life!)
But actually, that’s only half the aim…
You see, part of what makes this project so fun, apart from the monsters, math lessons, ancient robots and mesmerizing myths, is seeing our community grow, one budding mind at a time.
So today, I’m happy to share some of our Classical Wisdom Kids Club Members’ favorite projects and to show off their excellent work!
If you haven’t had a chance to try out any of these crafts – or if you are new to our Classical Wisdom Kids Club – you can see some of our most popular ancient games and crafts below….
Enjoy!
All the best,

Aeneas’ Cryptographic Disc
This cryptographic Disc was created by Aeneas Tacticus around the 4th century BC. Aeneas was an ancient Greek inventor, general of the Arcadian league and an author of military treaties... not the mythological founder of Rome!
It was a disc with 24 holes (one for each letter of the alphabet) with one ‘pointing’ where “A” is. The idea is to thread the disc so it can spell out a word and the receiver has to decode it by taking out the thread one letter at a time, noting the letters from right to left.
