Why Should Kids Learn About Stoicism?
And what are the most important lessons that can help them?
Dear Classical Wisdom Kids,
Stoicism has become all the rage these days… and it’s for a good reason. The ancient philosophy has wonderful ideas, insights and tactics for handling both timeless issues and modern problems.
From anger and anxiety to thinking about geopolitics and the climate, ancient philosophy can actually help in real, practical ways.
But… can it - should it - be employed by children? Is there an appropriate age to introduce these ideas?
And perhaps most to the point, which aspects and tactics of Stoicism are most applicable for children?
Next Tuesday (December 12th, Noon EST) Phil Van Treuren, writer, artist, and author of The Stock Horse and the Stable Cat and A Dog Who Follows Gladly and myself will discuss what elements of Stoicism is best for children and how we can apply them.
We’ll begin the first segment going over the hows and whys of Stoicism for children and second half with Stoic Fables for kids. Phil will tell some of these fantastic stories and we’ll discuss them - including taking questions from the audience.
If your kiddos can join live for this story time segment, that would be wonderful! It will also include Phil’s stunning illustrations.
Make sure to register to either join us live or receive the recording afterwards:
