BC/AD makes more sense to me-sets a zero point…at least theoretically-and we really can’t prove or disprove the accuracy of that date, either. But the whole “common era” thing-what is a point zero point, for that? Think it’s come into vogue recently mostly because we are in a PC era. Btw, not a Christian-thoroughly collapsed Catholic atheist here; so no religious reason to “promote” JC.

I would agree with that... it's still essentially using the other system as a main point, but just with more confusing terminology (at least for me)...

One thing about this is that Jesus was a real person in history, and probably the most important person ever, even our dating system revolves around him.

I didn’t realize that the BCE/CE came into play so early, being started by Kepler. It seems like it’s come into play more recently, because of the PC-ness of things, like DJSMD JD said. It feels like the “ancient” way of doing things is more accurate because of that.
